Prepare for your experience at altitude

Altitude sickness is a well known and common phenomenon, affecting people of all fitness levels and ages.

Proper preparation before going to altitude significantly increases your chance of success, aswell as giving you peace of mind that you are prepared to cope with the altitude, leaving you free to enjoy the challenge and take in the view.

For individuals with limited holiday time, or more experienced trekkers, thinAri sport provides the option to assist with the acclimation of altitude before you leave.

John Mayo's Altitude Testimonial:

"...As you recommended, I used thinAir sport in order to prepare for trekking holiday to Nepal. The trek promised to be challenging in terms of altitude acclimatisation as it included Everest base camp (5600 Metres) and Kala Pattar (5545 Metres).

I joined an organised trip with Jagged Globe and took a Blood Oxygen monitor to measure my climatisation as we progressed up the Khumbu Valley. Strangely, the monitor became quite popular with the group. From the first night everyone wanted to test their readings and it became a ritual during our evening meals.

The monitor checked your pulse and blood oxygen reading. I was amazed to note that as soon as we left Lukla my blood oxygen reading was at least 5% higher than everyone else in the group. Also, this differential was retained right up the last testing at Gorak Shep (5220 Metres). Furthermore, I was the only person on the trip not to experience any form of altitude sickness even when my blood oxygen reading had dropped to 80% at Gorak Shep. Clearly my body had been trained to cope with the lower levels of oxygen.

The Pod ensured my acclimatisation to Everest Base Camp was exceptional and this certainly enhanced my enjoyment of the trip. I would wholeheartedly recommend that any prospective trekker or mountaineer uses the thinAir sport System prior to exercising at altitude - it certainly makes a big difference.

Thanks again to everyone at thinAir sport for introducing me to this concept which has certainly helped my performance on high altitude trips."

MY EXPERIENCE OF thinAir sport

"I recently climbed Kilimanjaro and as part of my training I used thinAir sport to help with acclimatisation. On the mountain I did not have any altitude symptoms, just enjoyed the climb. Using thinAir sport was straight forward and I could see the benefits as I progressed with the programme. A welcome side effect was a great night sleep."
