Avs + Drinking = a recipe for fun

Anyone like having a drink or two during Avs games?  Whether you’re a social drinker or drowning your problems with Raycroft with an In Heat Wheat (hey, I’m not here to judge), have I got a game for you.

This is a game my brother, husband and I thought up while at an Avalanche game last season.  It may or may not have been the same game where my brother had one too many, prompting him to say, “I’m gay for Jose.”

But back to the game.  There are three things to drink to during each game, and these can change depending on who the Avs play.  So read up, grab a few beers, a few friends and do it like this:

1 drink for every shot on goal
1 drink depending on the team*
3 drinks for every goal

Pretty self explanatory.  The third rule with the asterisk next to it changes depending on the team.  For example, when we played this game during an Avs-Penguins game, it was 1 drink for every time Sidney Crosby was on camera (not just when he was on the ice).  If the Avs are playing a team with a great goalie, maybe it’s one drink for each amazing save.  The one we usually use, if nothing else, is one drink for every hit.  Or it could be one drink for each penalty if there’s some chippiness.  For Anaheim tonight, might I recommend one drink for every turnover?

If you’re as down as I am about the season, you might also want to try these rules:

1 drink every time Giguere trades one of your favorite players
1 drink every time the Avs lose by only 1 goal (most of our losses this year are only by 1 goal)
1 drink every time you see a different goalie in net for the Avs
1 drink if Scott Hannan ever does anything worth mentioning, besides hogging up cap room

But if you’re as down as I am about the season, you might want to try drinking in the privacy of your own home rather than bars and also check out local rehab facilities.
